Moniepoint Acquires Orda Africa to Enter Nigeria's Restaurant Tech Market

Moniepoint Inc., a Lagos-based financial ecosystem platform, has acquired Orda Africa, a cloud-based restaurant management platform operating in Nigeria. Under the terms of the deal, Orda will become part of the Moniebook platform, Moniepoint's all-in-one POS and business management solution. Orda was founded in 2020 and provides software and services for small and independent restaurants, helping them digitize operations that have traditionally relied on manual processes. The integration is expected to combine payments, bookkeeping, and operational tools into a single ecosystem tailored for small and medium-sized food businesses. Moniepoint processes more than $250 billion in annual transaction value and serves over 20 million active customers. The acquisition comes as Africa's food services industry is valued at about $50 billion, with Nigeria's segment projected to reach $19.31 billion by 2030, growing at an annual rate of 11.73%. This is the fourth major acquisition in Nigeria's startup ecosystem in 2026, following Flutterwave's acquisition of Mono, Paystack's acquisition of Ladder Microfinance Bank, and Andela's acquisition of Woven. For restaurant owners in Nigeria, the deal signals that integrated tools combining payments with operations are coming to the informal food sector at scale. For startups and builders in Nigeria, it is further evidence that consolidation is reshaping the local tech stack, with large platforms acquiring focused vertical tools rather than building from scratch. If you are building a product or service targeting small businesses in Nigeria, watching how Moniepoint continues to expand tells you where the infrastructure is heading.
